Salento coast reveals a 800-year-old shipwreck

A wooden shipwreck was found in the Mediterranean off the Salento coast in the region of Puglia (South Italy). The ship is dated to 12th or 13th cent. and measures 18 metres by 4.5 metres. The wreck was found in the Porto Cesareo Marine Protected Area by a fisherman. The wreck is found near the site of a Medieval fishing village of Porto Cesareo with which it might be connected.
