Remains of a post-Roman village discovered

Archaeologists at Rhuddgaer, near Newborough (Wales) discovered what is thought to be a buried village dated back to the 7th or 8th Century. It is the period after the Romans had fled Britain. The excavations were preceded by a field survey, which showed two or more phases of fields including typical medieval ridge and furrow cultivation, and more importantly what looked like seven or more buildings forming a small village. The village has no parallels to compare to as archaeologists know next to nothing about this time in Wales, as experts noted.
