Rare tomb unearthed on Lesbos

An 8th century BC intact tomb was discovered on the island of Lesbos in the region of Evergetoula during construction work by local authorities. The tomb as a unique and rare find, the first of its kind to be discovered on the eastern Aegean island from the Geometric Period, circa 9th-7th BC, according to the local authorities. The tomb is made of slate and has yielded five cups, exquisite gold and copper jewellery and a pin made of bone.
