Hill in Turkey might be an ancient Hittite city

Recent excavations at the Uşaklı Mound in Turkey revealed two structures that might point to the site being an ancient Hittite city of Zippalanda. The site is a mound located near Büyük Taşlık village in the Sorgun district of Yozgat province in central Anatolia. Last and this season’s finds, including clay tablets with cuneiform script point that the mound developed in the Hittite era.

Ancient Hittite documents mention a city called Zippalanda, which was supposed to be close to the Kerkenes Mountain. Excavations carried out since 2013 by Yozgat Museum and Florence University unearthed a big public structure, which has a deep and strong foundation. So far two such important structures have been unearthed, of which one might be a sacred place such as a temple, and the other probably a fortified castle. Among other finds are 5 cuneiform tablets  and pottery from the Hittite era.
