Wooden tract discovered under modern road in Northern Poland

During construction works in Gniew (North Poland) a wooden tract was discovered under modern road. The wooden way was built in 14th century from oak. At present not many such relics remain preserved but in Gniew another fragment of this wooden tract was discovered previously – in 1975 during archaeological works.

The part of the tract discovered now is a couple dozen metres long. Archaeologists are currently conducting works by it. It remains in good state although being destroyed in few places, probably due to earlier construction work. Current constructions have been temporarily held until archaeological investigation is finished.
