The pieces of wood have been radiocarbon-dated. The analysis showed it originated from 3210 BC. They were discovered at a site which previously was covered by a lake. The five pieces of oak timber were partially burned. One of the pieces is thought to be the boat’s stern or bow. Another is considered to be part of hull. The place of the discovery is located near the site of a Bronze Age boat building discovered three years ago. Presence rich Bronze Age settlement in the vicinity suggests that the boat was probably used by its occupants.
