Archaeologists in Peru discovered an ancient burial in Los Olivos district of the capital, Lima. The human remains were bundled up in a funerary basket. Along the burial architectural remains were also discovered.

The unearthed structures indicate that there was a settlement with at least two pyramidal mounds in the area. The archaeological material also provides evidence for long and continuous occupation at the site, which dates from 4000 to 3000 BC. An animal sacrifice, of a camelid, was found on the top of the mound. The site, overlooking the valleys of Chillon and Rimac, is said to shed light on the pre-Incan civilizations in the valleys of Lima.
