The time capsule was buried during a formal ceremony 82 years ago in the foundation of one of the buildings of a Nazi training centre. The Krossinsee complex in the town that formerly called Falkenburg, survived the war and is currently being used by the Polish army. The team of explorers and archaeologists who found it had to excavate 6 metres of dirt and concrete. During the excavation three landmines were discovered but finally, the capsule was extracted from its concrete niche.

It was expected that the metal cylinder might contains a documentary of the town commemorating its 600th anniversary celebrations held a year prior to the capsule’s deposition. But sadly there was no film inside. Instead, among other items, there were coins, newspapers, photos of Hitler and other officials, documents such as a parchment scroll authorizing the training centre, and two copies of Hitler’s Mein Kampf.
