A metal detectorist discovered a hoard of silver coins on a farm outside Rønne, Bornholm. The treasure is dated to the Viking age.
The detectorist first found silver coin and continued to search through the surrounding area. When several other coins were found he notified the Bornholm Museum. The initial discovery of six silver coins lead to unearthing of a hoard consisting of hundreds of Viking age silver coins, of which some were broken. The silver treasure will be exhibited at Bornholm Museum on Friday.
