Rare Roman bronze wing discovered

Excavations near the ancient Roman city wall of Gloucester, United Kingdom, revealed a rare artefact from the Roman Age. It’s a small bronze wing that came from a winged statuette.

The wing measures 14 centimetres in length it is said to come off a small statuette of a winged Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory. Discovered during excavations in the Brunswick Road, the artefact shows that there are still important archaeological remains left that can be discovered and preserved during modern building works. The rare find is said to be put on display in the Gloucester Museum.
