Roman and Islamic-era artefacts accidentally discovered in American Consulate’s garden in Alexandria

Routine maintenance work in the garden of the American Councillor in Egypt’s Alexandria resulted in discovery of three Roman marble columns and an Islamic-era water well holder.

The artefacts were examined by notified archaeological experts and were handed over to the Ministry of Antiquities. The objects are well preserved and set for restoration and documentation by the Kom El-Shokafa archaeological inspectorate.
