A second castle possibly discovered in Lincoln – a follow-up

Archaeologists conducting excavations at a demolished bus station in Lincoln, United Kingdom, may have unearthed the remains of a second castle in Lincoln, built around 1100 AD. This structure, known as Thorngate Castle is believed to have been located at this site.

Archaeologists state that that this area was known as Thorngate and the castle was referred to as Thorngate. Castle. The experts know that there’s only one reference in the 12th century to the structure and that it may have been built of timber. Moreover, from a historical viewpoint the Thorngate Castle is documented in some circles as a fort at that place. More news on the issue should come up as the excavations continue.
