Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities received a golden mummy mask from a a French-Egyptian citizen, who held the artefact in his private collection.

The private owner, Shehab Al-Farouh Omar, received the mask from a friend on the birthday of his son. He is said to have returned it to the Ministry due to the sense of belonging and loyalty to his home country, Egypt. The officials described his actions as a symbol of patriotism and good will, calling on others in possession of stolen artefacts to imitate Al-Farouk and protect and preserve Egypt’s cultural and archaeological heritage. The golden mask, which dating is yet uncertain, is now at Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square in Cairo.
