Archaeologists discovered Roman pottery, kilns at a construction site of future 96 houses. The excavations revealed numerous 2000-years-old artefacts.
Archaeologists believe that the settlement history at the site can be dated back to Bronze Age, but the peak of activity occurred during the late Iron Age and early Roman period. During that time it was a centre for pottery production.
Moreover, the kilns found on the site are also thought to have particular importance to the region as the style of pottery they produced mimics classical Mediterranean forms, which is not generally found west of the Avon Valley.
