The fingerprint was found on a piece of a broken clay pot dating from the Stone Age in the Bahrah I Excavation Zone in Subiyya. The international team that made the discovery consisted made up of 17 archaeologists, including 11 Poles, five Kuwaitis from National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters and a US scholar. The fingerprint is possibly the earliest of such finds in the whole Near East region. The Kuwaiti authorities are now consulting UNESCO to add the site of the find to the World Heritage List.
