A team of US government’s Defence Prisoners of War/Missing in Action Accounting Agency surveyed the area located on the hight of 3048 metres in the Himalayas, where the US aircraft is believed to have crashed. Recently, discussing the sites with local residents of Lower Dibang Valley the team was handed over with human remains  recovered near the wreckage of a crashed aircraft. Earlier last year the team also recovered some human remains from the same region. After arriving at designated site additional human remains, believed to be associated with missing US service members, have been found. It is thought the remains of up to 400 Americans could still be in the remote state, which borders Myanmar and China. Many more servicemen went missing during allied operations to supply China’s Kuomintang army fighting Japan. The area on the border between India, Myanmar (Burma) and China, known to pilots as “the Hump” is believed to hold remains of more than 1300 individuals that went missing – primarily from aircraft crashes.
