The artefacts were found during drainage construction at a site located opposite to the state museum of Sarawak. According to archaeologists, there were trading activities in the area which headed towards the riverbank. The experts are to conduct thorough investigation in the upcoming days  to determine the exact date of the finds and human activities in the past. Artefacts found at the site consist of broken pieces of ancient Chinese pottery – plates and bowls, believed to be from the Qing Dynasty period (1644–1912).
