Hellenistic jewellery seized in illegal excavations

Police officers in Turkey seized ancient jewellery from individuals conducting illegal excavations in Western Muğla province.

The Police operation involved a search in the house of a person who was allegedly conducting illegal excavations in the area of the Yatağan district in Muğla.  The officers found ancient jewellery, which the experts identified as dating to the Hellenistic period. The value of the ancient ornaments on the black market is estimated to between 130-260 Euro.
