Another discovery of a sarcophagus in İznik

After initial discovery of a sarcophagus in an olive grove in Turkey’s Bursa province city of İznik last November, three more tombs are reported to have been recently found at the site.

In November Police officers discovered an ancient Roman sarcophagus in Hisardere near İznik, which was dated to 2nd century AD. Following archaeological investigation resulted in a second sarcophagus being unearthed. Now, the officials informed that three more ancient tombs have been unearthed in the same olive grove. The new artefacts are possibly dated to the same period in the Roman era as the previous ones.
