Iron Age artefacts were noted among remains of illegal excavations conducted by looters at the site, prior to archaeological investigation. Archaeologists believe that there was a settlement at the hill, which can be dated to the Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze and Iron Age. The latest traces of past human occupation are in form of a cemetery dated to different centuries of the Islamic era. Further archaeological investigation is said to reveal more about the earliest periods of occupation, although these features are buried beneath the Islamic cemetery which creates an obstacle needed to be explored first.
