Hundreds of highly valuable old coins from various periods, as well as pitchers, earthenware items and jewellery were seized by Israeli Authorities in a Palestinian man’s home in Huwara, near Nablus, Israel.

The artefacts were found following an investigation in Judea and Samaria regions into illegal trafficking of antiquities and their sale on the black market. A 50-year-old Palestinian man was arrested for selling of antiquities without a permit or consulting Israel Antiquities Authority. Among the recovered artefacts are basalt stones for grinding wheat, as well as multiple water and oil jars dated to the times of Assyrian Empire, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods. Other finds include a set of limestone vessels commonly used by Jews during the Second Temple era (ca 530 BC-70 AD), and two rusty-looking firearms that appeared to be from the first half of the 20th century.
