Police have stopped an illegal online auction of a bronze axe, which was started by a citizen of Andrychów, South Poland, on one of auction sites. Experts have dated the find to between 1300-1000 years BC.
The 12-centimetre long bronze axe head was seized by Police and the man is currently facing Prosecutor’s office’s charges. All archaeological objects in Poland belong to the State Treasury and are protected by law. The man faces 3 years charges for misappropriation of artefacts.
