Scythian stele found in a mound

Tractor drivers discovered and secured a fragment of a Scythian stele, while ploughing a field near the village of Vasyne near Znamianka, Ukraine.

After the find was made, the villagers informed archaeologists who came and analysed the find, identifying it as a Scythian period artefact dating back to the late 6th or early 5th century BC. It turned out that the stele was uncovered while the tractor drivers were illegally ploughing the surface of a mound. The artefacts has been secured by the authorities and is scheduled to be transported to a museum for further investigation.
