The time capsule was found in the place where the local authorities plan to erect a monument dedicated to Józef Wybicki, a Polish poet, political and military activist, and writer of “Mazurek Dąbrowskiego” the Polish national anthem. The monument is scheduled to be erected at the same socle where in 1900 the German citizens of Głogów – then known as Glogau – erected a statue of German Emperor William I.

The mysterious led tube bearing the time capsule was found at the former socle of Wilhelm’s statue. Experts were able to recover a glass jar wrapped in a newspaper dated to September 13th, 1900. Unfortunately, the jar was found cracked and its content was heavily damaged by moisture. The experts recognised a roll of paper inside and some photographs. The capsule is believed to hold documents from the period of the end of 19th and beginning of 20th centuries.

The capsule and the documents it holds are now under supervision of conservation experts who want to recover the documents and prevent them from further decay. It is hoped that the content of the jar will be conserved and recovered.
