The hoard of silver coins was found along with remains of a silver belt which preserved only in form of silver fittings. Due to the nature of the artefacts it is believed that the coins were kept in a bag, kind of a purse, hanging from the belt. The coins are silver dirhams minted in the Samanid Empire, a Sunni Iranian empire, encompassing today’s Afghanistan, and large parts of Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan between 819-999.
