Pre-Colombian cemetery found near baseball stadium

Archaeologists discovered a pre-Colombian cemetery dating back 1200 years at a site near the National Baseball Stadium near Managua, Nicaragua.

Archaeologists walking at the site discovered contained pottery, vestiges of burials, ceramic funerary urns, as well as human remains and bones. The artefacts correspond to a funerary complex dated to between 350-800 AD. The discovered objects will be transferred to the National Palace of Culture for laboratory analysis. In recent times objects dating from the same period have also been found in the cities of Masaya and Granada in the Southeast and Rivas in the South of Nicaragua.
