Archaeologists discovered a partially preserved board of an ancient Roman game called Ludus duodecim scriptorum or XII scripta during excavations at city of Tripolis, Denizli province, Turkey. Remains of the 2000-year-old board game were discovered during the latest season of excavations. The game was similar to modern-day backgammon and was played by three cubic dice
