Archaeologists uncovered three statues believed to depict 3-rd-century civil servants during excavations of the ancient city of Side, Antalya Province, Turkey.

The unique statues are believed to represent ancient Roman senior civil servants. Two of the statues are males while the third one is a female and all of them are dressed. The sculptures were discovered lying on the ground, and  archaeologists believe this might indicate that in the fourth century AD, the Romans could have used the statues but re-sculpted the head part and came up with new portraits. According to the researchers, the practice of re-sculpting the heads of old statues was a common practice in the late Roman Empire as a result of economic crisis during the period.
