Research of Early Medieval strongholds in Central Poland finished

Twelve strongholds dating back to the Early Medieval times located in Central Poland have been surveyed with use of non-invasive prospection techniques over the course of years. The results of the research have been rounded up in a recent publication.

Archaeologists working a construction site of a high-pressure gas pipeline near Sulmierzyce, West Poland, discovered a settlement and burial site of the Lusitian culture, dating back the Early and Middle Bronze Age (1300-900 BC).

Customs officers stopped an attempt to smuggle Medieval axeheads at border crossing between Poland and Belarus in Bobrowniki. Five iron pickaxes were hidden in personal luggage of a Belarusian woman.

Archaeologists working in Kłodnica, Eastern Poland, discovered remains of a burnt Early Medieval building. The structure contained broken pottery vessels in which over 30 kilogrammes of legumes seeds were stored.
