Ornamented antler points to long-distance trade between Mesolithic communities

Ornamented antler found in Gołębiewo, central Poland, subjected to DNA and stable isotope analyses, revealed its origin as coming from between northern Scandinavia and north-western Russia, indicating it might have travelled from North Karelia to Central Poland during Mesolithic Era.

A recent study suggests that rice was first domesticated in China around 9400 years ago, basing on radiocarbon dating of rice samples and phytoliths from the Shangshan site in the Lower Yangtze, China.

Archaeologists from the University of Wrocław studied a part of the area of the Gobi Desert in Mongolia revealing it’s interesting past. Nowadays a remote place deprived of any road infrastructure and settlements, few thousands years ago it was a thriving area with conditions more suitable for habitation than at present.
