Mid-January is the moment that our Staff would like to announce the 2016 Archaeological Awards for projects undertaken in Poland and worldwide. It is time to announce the research projects that our site would like to award for their contribution in archaeology, expanding our knowledge about the past, crossing new frontiers, and preservation of the cultural heritage.
Archaeologists excavating for the first time in the area of the forgotten city of Dzwonowo, western Poland, discovered hundreds of artefacts and revealed a cemetery dated to period between 14th-18th centuries. The city itself was discovered through analysis of satellite images in 2014.
Excavations on a sports area in Skoki, Wielkopolska voivodeship in Poland, resulted in finding a treasure of 117 silver coins, dated to 15th and 16th century AD. The initial discovery of first few coins was made in December last year by an archaeologists from the local Regional Museum in Wągrowiec, Marcin Krzepkowski together with Michał Kołpowski.
