Crusader-era shipwreck reveals golden Italian coins

About thirty gold coins were found within the remains of a Crusader-era shipwreck that was discovered off the coast of Acre in northern Israel. The ship and the coins date to the end of the 13th century.

Modern deforestation in the Acre state of Brazil has allowed the discovery of more than 450 of large geometrical geoglyphs or enclosures, providing evidence for how indigenous people lived in the Amazon before European people arrived in the region.

2nd-century Bronze coin of Antiochus IV found in Jerusalem

During routine conservation work in the museum’s archaeological garden, in the courtyard of Jerusalem’s Tower of David, outside the Old City’s walls, archaeologists discovered a bronze coin used during the days of King Antiochus IV Epiphanes (175-164/3 BC).
