A team of researchers has discovered possibly the world’s oldest known cases of breast cancer and multiple bone marrow cancer (myeloma) through computed tomography (CT scans of two mummies from Qubbet el-Hawa in Aswan, Egypt.
Mummies of the Chinchorro people, dating 7400 years to the past, are scheduled for DNA analysis and computerized tomography scans. The 15 selected mummies of mostly children and unborn babies, were found on the Pacific coast of South America, at the edge of the Atacama desert.
Polish researchers produced a facial reconstruction of a female skull that belonged to an individual buried within a crypt of Yaroslav I the Wise, Grand Prince of Kievan Rus’. The woman is believed to be the second wife of the ruler, Ingegerd Olofsdotter of Sweden.
