The floor mosaic, dated to the 4th century AD, depicts scenes with chariot races in a hippodrome. The mosaic was initially excavated last season, before being covered for protection. Now archaeologists have uncovered it again to conduct restoration work that should last for several years and result in presenting the art to public. It is believed that this is the only mosaic of its kind on Cyprus and one of the few found in the Roman world depicting scenes from the hippodrome.
